In advance of series 3 broadcasting this weekend on Masterpiece, the LA Times has shared a gallery of behind the scenes photos from filming the series, which includes several of Dan.
Dan, first, thank you so much for three seasons of DA. Like others, I have seen you in "Sense and Sensibility" and also, in "The Turn of the Screw." I did note, at the time, that you had good chemistry with Michelle Dockery. Then, it was so delightful to see that chemistry deepen and mature, especially in Season 1 of Downton Abbey. By the end of Season 2, it caught fire and continued to be maintained through Season 3 (though at moments, you looked distracted which then I realized was because you were overly committed to multiple projects). Nonetheless, I would say that your on-screen chemistry with Michelle measures up to the cinematic legendary pairings of Spencer Tracy/Katharine Hepburn or even Humphrey Bogart/Lauren Bacall, to cite two examples. It was instrumental in winning over millions of fans around the world, drawing us back again and again to the series. Regretfully, the Mary-Matthew relationship has reached its end, but looking to the future, I do hope to see you and Michelle collaborate again - whether it be on the small screen, in an adaptation of a British literary classic or even better, on the silver screen one day (maybe as John Steed and Emma Peel in a re-launch of the TV series, The Avengers, or a modern epic). It will be a treat for the world and I am sure that will be box office gold. In the mean time, wish you the best of luck, and please help make some wise selections for the Booker Prize (I have not always agreed with the choices).
Yes, I agree. Michelle and Dan are absolutely fantastic together and let's hope that they act together in the future. I hope Dan actually does visit this site.
Agree. They make a great team and I do hope that they get to work together again.
I love to see this type of informal picture. I love to see the smiles and relaxed faces on the cast. Gives an idea of how lovely they all are.
It is lovely to see Dan happy and enjoying a laugh with Hugh Bonneville - it just shows the closeness they
must achieve working for months together - Good luck Dan with your future acting parts - all your fans
will be watching and willing you on to great things! - which I know you will achieve without our help - but we
wish it all the same!
They look like they enjoy each other very much!
