The Heiress: Backstage.com interview

The Heiress: Backstage.com interview

There is an interview with Dan in this week's issue of Backstage along with this cover photo. In the interview Dan chats about how he approaches all the audio books he has recorded. Read it in full on the website and in the dead tree copy, now on sale.

“I think you have to want to do audio books. Some people just hate it. It’s basically just you on your own in a booth talking endlessly for seven or eight hours a day with no natural daylight and not very much pay either. It has to be a passion thing. When you hear a well-read book, it’s a really special thing. For a start, you’re doing something extraordinary. There are a lot of people who either can’t read or don’t have time to read the book itself, and you are responsible for bringing that to life, and that’s a huge responsibility and also a great privilege.

Broadway.com have now added the sneak preview video of The Heiress, opening this evening on Broadway.

Dan's Aufio Books

Dan Stevens is a wonderful reader . He's one of those actors that have a very distinctive voice. You'll recognize it when you hear it. Unfortunately, some of the audio books are not available in the US. UK Audible.com cannot have US subscriber. I don't know why.

Since I am a slow reader, I prefer audio books because it reduces the time you spend reading a book. At the same time you can multi-task. I can also read the book as many times as time allows.

Having Dan's audio books makes me read books I probably would not pick on my own. It also makes me interested in some of the book for young adults like Young Sherlock Holmes, Dragon's Eye, which is about dragons which I would never think of reading on my own. After hearing the sample reading I got interested in it because of the way he read it.

I have listened to all his audio books at least twice, some more than that, especially Young Sherlock Holmes, I can't count how many times I'd listened to it.

I can't wait to get his new audio "The Time Keeper." I seem to have problem ordering it because no one can tell me who the reader is. I'll probably just order it from Amazon UK.

Totally agree & The Time Keeper is excellent

I totally agree with the above comments, and most certainly, The Time Keeper is incredibly good. Dan's reading of this is superb.

Audio Books

I couldn't agree more with the above comment. The range of accents and voices that he covers is incredible. I too am working my way through.

How right you are!
Dan's readings are truly wonderful - only a few still left to hear, so I shall have to start again then! More new releases soon I hope!
If you haven't heard one, please try to do so, they put a whole new slant on books, even if you are an avid reader yourself.
