My Week: Sunday Telegraph 2 December

This month's column for The Telegraph is now available to read online. In it Dan discusses Thanksgiving and letters to Santa.

As we have been compiling the charmingly modest list of Christmas wishes this week (a pink dinosaur; a tree), someone told me of a rather beautiful seasonal greeting, one which applies all year round; “I wish you enough”. A true understanding of “enough” would be the most satisfying gift. Happy holidays.

Enough is not enough

Dear Dan, I don't wish you enough. I wish you everything and only the best. For your career, for your family, for everything in your life!

BRAVO DAN...BUT REMEMBER...

ANOTHER EXCELLENT ARTICLE WHICH I ALWAYS LOOK FORWARD TO. BUT ONE THING DAN, WHAT YOU ARE SEEING IN THE EXCESSES OF THE "BIG APPLE", DOES NOT NECESSARILY APPLY AT ALL TO THOSE OF US IN THE "HINTERLANDS. " MOST OF US MANAGE TO OBSERVE THANKSGIVING IN THAT SPIRIT....GIVING THANKS FOR PEACE (RELATIVE) AND PLENTY, AND THE LOVE OF FAMILY GATHERINGS. IT IS MY FAVORITE HOLIDAY OF ALL, AND YES, WE MAY WATCH THE PARADE ON TV, AND MARVEL AT THE INGENUITY OF ADVERTISERS. BUT WAIT TILL YOU SEE THE ROSE PARADE FROM CALIFORNIA. AND THE COUNTDOWN TO THE NEW YEAR IN TIMES SQUARE, JUST PEOPLE HAVING A GLORIOUS TIME, ALBEIT A NOISY ONE. AND BLESSINGS ON YOU AND YOUR FAMILY, AND DO KEEP YOUR CHILDREN UNMOVED BY OUR AMERICAN EXCESSES, ITS A CHALLENGE.

CAPS LOCK

I've never understood people who write in ALL CAPS. Is the goal to let the reader know you are VEXED about something? Or, are you simply too lazy to release that "Caps Lock" button that appears to have been mistakenly pressed?

It's great that you took the time to comment to Dan Stevens' astute post, but, I daresay, your "input" would be easier to heed (not to mention, read), were it delivered in standard, eye-friendly, sentence case. SANS CAPS.

CAPS BECAUSE....

I HAVE VISION PROBLEMS. I FIND THE STANDARD CASE DIFFICULT FOR ME TO READ. BELIEVE ME, IT IS NOT BECAUSE I FIND WHAT I WRITE OF ANY SPECIAL IMPORTANCE. BUT ISN'T THIS A WONDERFUL WEB SITE FOR NEWS ABOUT THIS PHENOMENAL YOUNG ACTOR.

Caps on or caps off, I very much appreciate all of  the people who take time to visit this site and to post comments! xx

Very Well Said...

As an American who finds the tradition of Black Friday ridiculous it was well said of our traditional Thanksgiving that it has grown extremely commercial and without the original merit of "Thanks" it was intended to be. Seeing it through your "eyes" and prose clearly allows one to view it correctly as witnessed and it was "Very Well Said".... Paint me simply... "I have enough".

I enjoy your hard work. God's Best to you and family! Happy Christmas!

I always look forward to

I always look forward to reading these columns - and this one is especially good!
