My Week: Sunday Telegraph 3 March

The latest Sunday Telegraph column from Dan is available to read online.

...There’s an element of the Sweeney Todd about it all: demand for the delicious and the cheap in lean times breeding underhand measures. It highlights how readily we are all being lied to: think how much horse is in that beef and then how much of all that we consume, physically and mentally, might be mislabelled and contaminated. But surely it also shows how much we must all like a nice fillet of filly?

Dan being Miserable

Hasn't The Telegraph got it wrong? Dan was miserable at Tonbridge School, but I think I am correct in saying he has said he enjoyed Cambridge mixing with like minded people and making friends. The phrases used in the article are ones I recall him using about his time at Tonbridge school.

Re: Dan being Miserable

Yes, I am sure that they have got it wrong - his comments related to school, and I only recall seeing positive and enjoyable comments about his time at Cambridge.

What is of greater concern is that the Telegraph seem to have printed this in a completely unrelated and irrelevant manner, why print it all? (Perhaps they were short of material for that page today!)

Dan miserable - No, not correct

So glad to see Dan refute this misleading article in today's Telegraph.
I thought that it was incorrect when I first read it.
Shame on Tim Walker for writing it in the first place, and, yet again, I am saddened to see such unpleasant & derogatory comments by those who seem to delight in deriding Dan.

I agree, which is why I wont

I agree, which is why I wont be posting it.

????

I can't understand why The Telegraph is publishing this silly stuff. It won't help Dan's image at all!

Explanations

So pleased that fans now get explanations and/or corrections for their various misunderstandings about Dan's career decisions. Lets hope they read and accept them! If would be nice if fans are also told if and when Dan agrees or declines to play Mr. Darcy in 'Death comes to Pemberley.'

You need a new agent

If you left Downton to make Vamps thinking this was a step up, you need a new agent!

Re "You need a new agent"

No, Dan didn't leave Downton to make Vamps, that was filmed in late 2010.

He made "Summer In February" early last year and it will be released June 14th 2013 in UK.

I believe that Dan & Jessica Brown Findlay both signed with new/additional agents in USA early 2012.

Dan, like all the main original cast, was contracted for a 3 year run. Both he & Jessica advised Julian Fellowes & DA production team, at the start of 2012, ie before filming Series 3, that they would not be renewing/extending their contracts for the possible, though at that time unconfirmed, Series 4 & 5.
Hope that helps to explain a little more.

downton abbey and beyond

Dan, your amazing body of work in Downton inspired us all....and I know how disappointed
I was when the 3rd season ended so dramatically and our favourite character was gone !!!
However, since then with the fantastic success of the Heiress in New York and now p;ossibly
a movie with Liam Neeson...and so it goes on - wonderful stories in the Telegraph made so
interesting etc. etc...your future seems to be golden....wishing you continued success in
all your endeavours to which I ..for one...will be looking so forward.
Theatre in the West End, movies, articles in the Telegraph, to name just a few of your
future artistic achievements....warmest regard from Toronto, Canada..Angela.

ALWAYS, , DAN...

YOUR WRITING TAKES MY BREATH AWAY. YOU HAVE "INTRODUCED" ME TO TOKAY WINE, THE JOYS OF THE HAMMOCK, (THOUGH AT MY AGE I PREFER TO KEEP MY FEET ON TERRA FIRMA AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE), THE BEAUTY OF A WINTER MORNING IN CORNWALL, A LITTLE GIRL'S DELIGHTFUL "SECRET", AND MANY OTHER LOVELY AND THOUGHTFUL MOMENTS. YET, YOUR REFERENCE TO AN APPARENTLY NEW BAND I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF, LEFT ME QUITE BEWILDERED. ( BUT THAT'S NOT HARD.) USUALLY IT IS YOUR WAY WITH WORDS ALONE THAT IS MUSIC TO MY EARS. DO KEEP WRITING, BECAUSE I INTEND TO KEEP READING!

Always, Dan

Each month, I look forward to your column. This month's did not disappoint either, in fact it sent me looking for AltJ's music. You have extended my musical boundaries because I would never have purchased their CD.

Please, keep writing because I, also, intend to keep reading.

All the best

I too have been followig Dan since Downton. Reading everything he writes and I am impressed with his acting and writing talent. Very smart young man. I too looked up AltJ and was impressed with their music until finding out the music is about drugs, gang rape ending in murder and other unseemly topics. Guess I thought Dan was Matthew(?) ... very naive of me.

Dan's column

I always look forward to reading Dan's monthly column. This one does not disappoint!

More please, Dan!
