Summer in February: Film3Sixty magazine interview online

The recent Summer In February article from Film3Sixty magazine is now available to read on their website.

F3S: Dan, the film is written by your former English teacher. When did you first get involved?

Dan Stevens: I knew about the book when it came out because I had just come to the school. There was a lot of buzz around it then. Everybody said it should be a movie. I remember Jonathan jokingly saying, “If it ever becomes a film, you’d make a great Gilbert when you grow up.” I kept that in the back of my mind.

F3S:Did it take the global success of Downton Abbey to make you bankable on film in a starring role?

DS: Yes, although Gilbert is number three on the cast list, so I was just about eligible to play number three! Meanwhile, Dominic, who I’ve grown up with in the industry, has gone from strength to strength. He seemed like the right kind of rogue to play Munnings.

DAN IN CORNWALL

AND I'M SURE THE CREW NEVER WORKED WITH A NICER MAN. I TREASURE THE ARTICLE DAN WROTE FOR THE TELEGRAPH WHILE FILMING SUMMER IN FEBRUARY, IN WHICH HE DESCRIBES SO ELOQUENTLY A WINTER MORNING IN CORNWALL. IT WAS POETIC, LOVELY. A KEEPER.

LOVE IT!

The picture is lovely, and Gentleman Dan such a sweetheart. Can't imagine how he could ever be number 3 on any list!

Excellent article

What an excellent article, and what a true 'gent' Dan is!

I am so looking forward to seeing this film - the book is really, really good, and the film will, I am sure, become a true classic.
