Summer In February: Telegraph article

The Telegraph posted an article this week about the Summer In February production.

A new film about Munnings will depict the artist’s turbulent love affair with his first wife, Florence - played by the Australian actress Emily Browning - whose relationship with Captain Gilbert Evans, a friend of the couple, led to her suicide. Entitled Summer in February, the film will see Dominic Cooper star as Munnings opposite Dan Stevens, who plays Matthew Crawley in Downton Abbey, as Evans.

Set between 1912 and 1914, when Munnings was in his early 30s, it depicts his time as a member of the Newlyn School, an artists’ colony in Cornwall, where he lived alongside fellow painters Dame Laura Knight and her husband, Harold.

summer in february

Can't wait for this.

Summer in February

This may appear an absolutely ridiculous question- will Summer in February be given world -wide distribution rights?

One thing is for sure -if not, guess we'll have to cross the ditch to see it as it is a young Aussie actress from Melbourne that plays the female lead so we can assume that it will be premiered in Australia.

Your summer will be our winter and that's only 4 months away.

Something really good to look forward to

I loved the book, and from a few comments that I have read from those who have seen the film at early private viewings, it sounds as those it will be well worth waiting for.
I am full of expectation and hope that it will be released very soon.
Dan will make an excellent Gilbert Evans, with Dominic Cooper, Emily Browning and Hattie Morahan as interesting fellow cast members.

I am SO RIDICULOUSLY EXCITED

I am SO RIDICULOUSLY EXCITED for this film. I read the book after hearing of Dan Stevens' involvement in the film, and it immediately shot to my top 5 favourite novels - it's a work of utter brilliance. Dan and Dominic Cooper are simply inspired choices as Evans and Munnings - I think it's going to be utterly wonderful. I'm so glad we have it to look forward to with no more Matthew in Downton - having only been a fan of Dan's since Downton, I'm incredibly excited at the prospect of seeing him in something new, rather than trawling up past works on Youtube!

It's going to destroy me emotionally, I know, but I just can't wait. Roll on summer!!

So excited too!

Feel exactly the same way as you!!! I read the book after hearing about Dan being involved, as it sounded interesting. I LOVED the book, made me cry and the imagery was just amazing. One day I will travel to Lamorna in Cornwall and experience that part of the world for myself :) I even found the painting that Munnings painted of Blote (the one that's on some covers of the book). If I had millions of dollars I'd buy it lol.
